The Indonesian Communications and Information Ministry (KOMINFO) has issued a regulation which requires all SIM (phone card) users in Indonesia to register their phone number with a valid form of identification.
The registration period started on 31 October and mobile phone users have until 28 February 2018 to register and verify their identity.
Failure to register by 28 February will result in eventual termination of services, starting with the loss of text services, followed by loss of phone services and eventually the card number will be inactivated.
Bamboo – called bambu locally or bambusa vulgaris botanically – is one of the most versatile plants found in Lombok and is used extensively for everything from furniture to building construction.
Bamboo is actually a sub-species of grass and over 1500 varieties have been identified around the world. The plant can grow up to 60 centimetres (23.6 inches) in one day and reach a height of 18 metres (or around 60 feet).
Because bamboo is fast growing and readily available throughout the island, it has traditionally been used for centuries as a building material. Houses, huts and shelters are built using the strong poles for the framework, while the outside walls and inner partitions are made from split bamboo lengths woven together into panels.
An elderly man lay dying in his bed.
While suffering the agonies of impending death,
he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favourite scones
wafting up the stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted
himself from the bed.
Leaning on the wall, he slowly made his way
out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort,
gripping the railing with both hands, he crawled downstairs.
