HIGH WAVES CANCEL
BOAT CROSSINGS

It’s that time of the year again, when we get occasional days of high winds and big waves, so a word of warning for those travelling by boat.

During these periods, fast boat transfers between Bali, Lombok and the Gilis are often cancelled due to strong winds and high waves making conditions in the Lombok Strait (the sea between Bali and Lombok) dangerous.

Last week all fast boat services from Bali to the Gilis were suspended for four days, leaving some travellers stranded on the islands.

Classical music lovers are in for a treat! Season 3 of “Classical Music Comes to Lombok” will take place on 24 and 25 August.

Imma Setiadi and Professor Nigel Clayton from the Royal College of Music in London, collaborating with ‘Lombok Light Orchestra’ (Forges), will perform at the classical music concert on Friday, 25 August at Hotel Santika in Mataram.

TOURISM COLLEGE PLANNED FOR LOMBOK

Construction of a tourism and hospitality technical college in Lombok is due to commence this month.

The Lombok State Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar) will be constructed on a 20 hectare block of land in the village of Puyung, Central Lombok, with a projected budget of Rp 1.2 trillion (approx US $90 million).

The money for the college will be allocated from the state budget and will be disbursed in stages.

The three men started talking and bragging about their sons.

The first man told the others: “My son is a home builder, and he is so successful that he gave a friend a new home for free. Just gave it to him!”
