Although a frequent visitor to Bali, I had no idea what to expect of Lombok. Was it very primitive? Did it only have shacks on the beach? Do any of the places have air conditioning?

LOMBOK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO GET 2 NEW APRONS

PT Angkasa Pura I (the national airport authority) has prepared a budget of Rp 78 billion to build two new aircraft parking aprons at Lombok International Airport.

The airport apron is the area of an airport where aircraft are parked, unloaded or loaded, refuelled, and boarded.

SOUND OF SENGGIGI 2016 MUSIC FESTIVAL

Anyone who attended the Senggigi Blues Festival last year would agree that it was a great event with fantastic performances by local artists.

CLASSICAL MUSIC COMES TO LOMBOK SEASON 2

Following the success of last year’s August programme of classical music education and performance in Mataram, Surabaya born pianist, ImmaSetiadi (currently finishing her doctoral studies at the Royal College of Music in London), and her British colleague and professor, Nigel Clayton, have agreed to return to Lombok for a second time this coming August to consolidate on the music education work they did last year. 

This year they are very fortunate to be collaborating on this event with Forum Gesek Mataram (Forges), whose activity may be better known under the name Lombok Light Orchestra.

NEW POWER GENERATOR OPERATIONAL IN LOMBOK

PLN (the State Electricity Company) reports that a Mobile Power Plant with a capacity of 25 Megawatts (MW) located in Jeranjang near Gerung, West Lombok, is now operational.

As reported in The Lombok Guide (Issue # 222), Indonesian President Jokowi paid a visit to Lombok in early June, when he inaugurated the groundbreaking of the Mobil Power Plant project and pushed contractors to have the project completed by September 2016.
