It’s that time of the year again, when Muslims around the world will be participating in their annual fast.
The month of Ramadan – locally known as ‘Bulan Puasa’ – starts around 6 June this year and, as Islam is the majority religion of Indonesia, many people across the archipelago will be fasting for the next month.
• The Cowshed “meat raffle” held at Easter was such a big hit that the popular steakhouse in Batu Layar is introducing monthly meat raffles for all their guests!
This month’s raffle will be held from 3 – 10 June. All you have to do is eat and drink at The Cowshed to collect tickets (no hard feat, as they serve some of the best steaks in town!) You’ll receive 1 ticket for every drink you buy and 2 tickets for every meal.
The Rinjani National Park in Lombok is being assessed by a team from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for inclusion on the list of UNESCO Global Geoparks.
UNESCO Geopark status is awarded to sites around the world which have unique or significant physical attributes, archaeological, ecological or cultural value, and are of scientific importance. Worldwide, there are 105 UNESCO Geoparks, including 61 in Europe and 31 in China.
Friends from around the world gathered at Quah Restaurant in Qunci Villas to say a fond farewell to Executive Chef Frédéric Pougault and to welcome his replacement, Gianluca Visciglia. Fred has headed the kitchen team at Qunci Villas for the past three years and is now taking some time off to travel before his next appointment in Cuba.

Donors included local and expat residents, Senggigi business people, staff of the BNI Bank in Senggigi, and management and staff of Puri Mas.
