Love it or loathe it, TripAdvisor® is one of the world’s most influential travel sites.
The site announced the winners of its Travelers’ Choice™ Top Destinations in the world on 21 March 2016 and we are delighted to see Lombok awarded number 5 place in the “Top Ten Islands in Asia” for the second year in a row.
Since it first opened in 2010, Cocotinos Boutique Resort has established itself as one of the premier places to stay in Sekotong on Lombok’s southwest coast.
Located on the secluded beach at Tanjung Empat, Cocotinos fronts onto over 300 metres of white sand beach and looks out over the three small islands of Gili Nanggu, Gili Tangkong and Gili Sudat floating just off shore in the calm bay.
Thousands of people joined in the celebrations for World Water Day 2016 held in Ampenan on 26 March.
A special floating stage was erected on the Jangkok River in Ampenan where famous Jamaican reggae musician Squidly Cole, together with local musicians, hosted a free concert titled Suara Sungai (Sound of the River).
The idyllic islands of the southwest continue to attract plenty of attention, with the prestigious Meliá Hotel Group announcing that they will build a five-star resort on the small island of Gili Tangkong – an almost deserted 15-hectare paradise island in Lombok.
Gili Tangkong is one of three small islands located in the bay of Tawun in Sekotong. To the left of the island is Gili Nanggu – already well-known as a popular snorkelling spot and island escape in the southwest – and to the right is Gili Sudat.
