No more BIL… IT’S LOMBOK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Since the Lombok International Airport opened, local authorities in their wisdom have insisted on it being called ‘Bandara Internasional Lombok’ (abbreviated to BIL) – despite the fact that most tourists find the name too hard to remember or pronounce.

Now, just over 4 years later, the airport management authority PT Angkasa Pura I (PT API) has announced that the airport will be ‘rebranded’ as Lombok International Airport.

ZIKA VIRUS, MOSQUITOES AND RAINY SEASON…

The current Zika virus outbreak across Latin America is a timely warning to those of us living in the tropics to take extra precautions against mosquitoes during rainy season.

The Zika virus is transmitted to people mainly through the bite of an infected Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which typically bite during the daytime. These are the same mosquitoes that spread dengue and chikungunya viruses.

HONDA STUDENT OLYMPICS 2016 AT LCC

Repeating the success of previous years, Honda Motor Nusa Tenggara Barat (NTB) in collaboration with Lombok City Center (LCC) held the ‘2016 Honda Student Olympics’ in the atrium at the new Lombok City Center mall.

The theme of this year's event was ‘Be a Superhero with STUDENT OLYMPIC HONDA 2016’. The event received an overwhelming response from many schools in NTB (the islands of Lombok and Sumbawa) who competed for tens of millions of rupiah in prizes.

LALU SYAUKANI @ QUNCI VILLAS

Qunci Villas kicked off its ‘Month of Love’ programme on 26 January at a fabulous exhibition opening party with art, cocktails and canapés on the beachfront at the stylish resort in Mangsit.

Renowned local artist Lalu Syaukani exhibited his unique artwork and delighted guests with a live painting demonstration accompanied by performance artist Zaini Mohammad.
