The Ministry of Communications and Information – along with four mobile phone companies and the Bureau of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) – has launched a disaster warning system via text messages (SMS).
The early warning system will alert mobile phone subscribers across Indonesia to extreme weather warnings, as well as tsunami and earthquake information.
