Following our story last issue (#193, published 18 May), about the Lombok government asking Silk Air to pick up the Perth - Lombok flights formerly operated by Jetstar Airlines, local newspapers this week were reporting that Garuda Airlines is in discussions to re-open the route between Lombok and Perth.
Certainly rumours have been swirling since Jetstar suspended its direct flights between Lombok and the West Australian capital in October 2014. Garuda, Air Asia, Virgin Airlines and Silk Air have all been cited as having plans to re-commence flying the route.

Some of Lombok’s best bartenders put their skills to the test this month at the “Bartender Idol 2015” Bartending Challenge held at Marina Café in Senggigi from 19 - 22 May.
In the biggest bartending challenge of the year – sponsored by Bali Moon, Marina Café, Hatten Wines, Square Restaurant and Vodka 9 – 25 participants competed in flashy performances to win prizes totalling more than Rp 15 million.
