There is a wealth of information available about Mt Rinjani but not so much has been written about Aik Kalak Hot Springs – although they are a highlight on any trek up Lombok’s famous volcano.
The main camping area for those climbing Rinjani is on the northern shore of Lake Segara Anak – the beautiful lake in the crater of Rinjani volcano.

DENGUE IS ON THE RISE
Dengue Fever (called
Deman Berdarah in Bahasa Indonesia) is on the rise in Bali and Lombok, perhaps because of the extended rainy season this year.
A number of cases have been reported in Senggigi, Kuta and the Gili Islands recently and local hospitals have seen a large increase in cases from all over the island over the past two months.

TIME RUNNING OUT FOR INDONESIAN AIRLINES
The Jakarta Globe reports that 11 Indonesian airlines have failed to meet the 30 April deadline set by the Ministry of Transportation for the submission of detailed financial reports.

PEDULI ANAK PIZZA DAY @ LOTUS BAYVIEW RESTAURANT
Last week, 40 children and staff from the Peduli Anak Foundation enjoyed an afternoon eating pizzas on the beach at Lotus Bayview Restaurant in Senggigi.
Maurizio Cammarota, Lotus Manager and Chef, and his wife Ibu Suharni have been loyal supporters of the children’s charity for many years and, every year since 2012, Maurizio has invited the children of Peduli Anak to come to the popular Italian restaurant in Senggigi to learn how to make (and eat) pizza.
