• Giving at Christmas is something most people can relate to… so why not give to our local communities? The local people in Tanah Embet (a kampung about 10 minutes south of Senggigi) are in desperate need of clothing and toys for their children and a few things to make their lives easier.
With so many kids getting new toys and clothes for Christmas, now is a good time to do a clean out of their rooms and put a smile on some little faces by donating!
This month The Lombok Guide celebrates its 7th birthday and we’d like to thank all our advertisers and readers who have helped make The Guide such a success!
When we published our first issue in December 2007, our paper was just 24 pages; all black and white. Created specifically as a tourism guide for first-time visitors to Lombok, we provided maps for tourists, information on places to go and things to do in Lombok, and a guide to the island’s hotels, restaurants and tourism-related businesses.
Even heavy rain couldn’t deter the thousands
of people who turned up to take part in
Lombok’s unique “War of the Rice Cakes”– Perang Topat – at Lingsar Temple this month.
After witnessing ancient rituals and blessings,
the crowd was entertained by traditional
Sasak and Hindu performances before joining
in the friendly topat war!
Hatten Wines hosted a special tasting of their Two Islands range of wines at Square Restaurant
on 6 December. Guests had the opportunity to sample the Two Islands current vintages produced
from South Australian grapes and to taste the newly launched Sauvignon Blanc
and Pinot Grigio wine styles.
For many, there’s no better place to be on New Year’s Eve than on one of the three Gilis.
For romance and a low-key start to the New Year, head to beautiful Gili Meno. Or find yourself a spot at one of the fabulous beach cafes and bars on laid-back Gili Air – both Scallywags and The Beach Club Gili Air will be popular places to see the New Year in!
