• Don’t forget Lombok’s big event this week – the Bau Nyale Festival, being held until 20 February. The “core event” takes place on Wednesday, 19 February starting with performances on the beachfront at Kuta in South Lombok, followed by a procession in the late afternoon to Seger Beach, where the main activities take place.
If you plan to attend the festival, allow plenty of time to reach Seger Beach as tens of thousands of people crowded onto the beach last year, with queuing up to two hours. Just be patient and make the journey part of the experience!

The Rotary Club of Bali, Seminyak on behalf of The Smile Foundation of Bali, will celebrate eight years of helping nearly 2,000 people afflicted with cranio-facial deformities or injuries at the “Have a Heart” charity event on Saturday, 22 February.
Years of struggling to stay one step ahead of bankruptcy seem to have come to an end for Merpati Nusantara Airlines, with the company suspending all flights on 1 February, 2014.
