Lombok is buzzing, with the first Jetstar flight direct from Perth to Lombok arriving at Lombok International Airport on Tuesday, 24 September.
The inaugural flight – linking Lombok to Australia – touched down to fanfare, with the first 150 passengers onboard receiving a warm Lombok welcome. Jetstar will operate four flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The moment so many of us in the tourism industry had been waiting for finally came on Tuesday, 24 September 2013, as we waited on the tarmac at Lombok International Airport. Assembled were a welcoming committee made up of members of the Lombok Hotels Association, government representatives and media.
As Jetstar flight JQ 112, direct from Perth, West Australia, touched down on the runway a cheer went up from the crowd. At last, the first direct flight linking Lombok and Australia!
As we mentioned in our “What’s Hot!” column in Issue 149 (published on 2 September 2013), one of Lombok’s own – Mark Heyward – has just published his first book: “Crazy Little Heaven: An Indonesian Journey”.
After successful book launches in Australia and Jakarta, Mark will celebrate the Lombok launch of the book, and a CD of the same name, at Asmara Restaurant in Senggigi on Saturday, 19 October, from 6pm.
• As we mentioned a couple of issues ago, a new food supplier is coming to Senggigi. Chicken Stopand Sausage King is now open in Senggigi Plaza (on the right hand side, near the Wine and Cigar Lounge).
Chicken Stop stocks a range of chicken products (similar to Lenard’s Chicken outlets in Australia) including marinated and stuffed chicken, double breast roasts, Chicken with Macadamia and Honey, Thai Grilled Chicken, etc.
