DANCE INTO LOMBOK!

The annual dance extravaganza, held in the ballroom at Santosa Villas and Resort in Senggigi, features a cast of dance champions from more than 16 countries competing in front of a panel of international judges.

ALCOHOL RELATED DEATHS CONTINUE

The number of deaths related to methanol contaminated alcohol in Indonesia continues to rise with the deaths of two brothers from Berlin and thirteen local people just this month.

19-year-old, Lukas B, from Berlin, had been working for the past year as a teaching assistant in Semarang in Java when his brother, Felix B, (21 years old) visited him.

LOMBOK INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL 2013

This month, Puri Mas Boutique Resorts & Spa will host the 8th Annual Lombok International Dance Festival over the weekend of 14 and 15 September. QUESTION: I am a young Aussie buck from Perth and I thought I’d take a look at sunny Lombok. I’m not the best looking dude on the beach but I thought I could do better than I was doing back in Oz with the sheilas, as the competition in Lombok would be less intense. 

Imagine my surprise when I went to the Breach Club (or some such Aussie hangout) and an old guy with a receding hairline and pot belly was surrounded by the best babes on the beach! 
Hoping for better luck in a local bar that night, I saw the same elderly dude surrounded by the same local beauties.

14 WORLD LEADERS CONFIRMED TO ATTEND APEC SUMMIT

US President, Barack Obama, has confirmed his attendance at the coming high-level conference on Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to be held in Bali in early October 2013.

Also confirmed to attend is Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President, Xi Jinping. The group is expected to eventually include 20 of the world’s top leaders.

RENOVATION OF BALI’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT BEHIND SCHEDULE

Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, has expressed his disappointment over delays in the completion and handover of the renovatedNgurah Rai International Airport.

The major renovation of Bali’s international airport is part of a range of major infrastructure investments by the government in the lead up to the APEC Conference, which will be held in Bali in the first week of October 2013.

NEW CORONARY CARE UNIT IN BALI

Good news for travellers to Bali and Lombok who have heart problems. Bali’s Sanglah General Hospital has opened a coordinated coronary care unit, located strategically adjacent to the hospital’s emergency room.

The head of the coronary unit at Sanglah General Hospital, Dr I Wayan Wita, explained that patients served by his centre are admitted only on a referral basis.

MISS WORLD BALI 2013

The Miss World 2013 competition, scheduled to be held in Bali during the first week of September, continues to cause controversy amongst Islamic hard-liners in the country.

However, Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, has insisted that he would fully support the Miss World pageant in Bali next month, saying that there was no reason to reject it.

GILIS REVENUE QUESTIONED

Reported revenue from the three Gilis – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air – has come under question by the North Lombok council.

The North Lombok Regional Representatives Council (DPRD KLU) has signalled discontent over the regional income revenue (PAD) reported from the tourism sector, in particular the three Gilis, over the past three years.
