THE BEAUTY OF LOMBOK!

The beauty of our beaches is one of the many things that surprise first-time visitors to Lombok. Unlike the crowded beaches of Bali, our beaches are wide open, sublimely undeveloped and unpolluted.

BAZAAR… CAKRA MARKETS!

Lombok isn’t known for its shopping opportunities. Shopaholics will get their fill in Bali, with its thousands of shops and stalls touting t-shirts and mass-produced souvenirs on the streets of every tourist area.

Lombok is for relaxing. It’s a place to hunt out a bargain in a dusty market, to haggle for pearls and sarongs on the beach, to explore quaint villages and pick up a genuine handicraft for a song. Or to brave the local markets in search of a unique collectible or quirky item at bargain-basement prices.

THE SAGA OF SOUTH-EAST LOMBOK CONTINUES

“Roads still not made, no electricity, no water and no anything”. This is still the situation in south-east Lombok. The area’s reputation as “the land the government forgot” might be well deserved.

QUESTION: I have arrived in Lombok to enjoy the sunny beaches and blue skies and have just checked my bank balance. The banks in Europe are worse than useless. Before coming to Lombok I decided to apply for a credit card and I have just received a bill for my as yet unused credit card stating that I owe $0.00. I have ignored it and thrown it away. Last week I received another similar bill and threw that one away too.
