“Bau Nyale”, one of Lombok’s most important and popular festivals, was held from 15 - 20 February this year and attracted thousands of visitors to the south coast.
Bau Nyale (meaning “to catch Nyale” in the local Sasak language) is a cultural tradition said to date back to the 16th century and is centred on the seasonal appearance of Nyale (a variety of Palolo worm found in tropical waters in certain parts of the world, including Lombok).

Held on the first Friday of every month, the Square Cellar Party features three and a half hours of free-flow red and white wines, together with a delicious buffet meal, including sushi, tapas, pasta, roast meats, salads and desserts, at one of Senggigi’s best dining venues.
Majell Hind has been appointed as the new Consul-General of Australia in Bali.
Hind is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was until recently Counselor (Management) and Consul-General at the Australian Embassy in Kabul. She previously served as Consul-General at the Australian High Commissions in Kuala Lumpur and Port Moresby, and has undertaken a number of short-term missions, including to Jakarta.

Stephane Servin (SS): 2013 was actually a very good year for Lombok. We had a double digit increase in arrivals and one of the best average occupancies in our hotels for the past couple of years.
